JESC 2020 | Germany to debut in Warsaw

Today on the 8th of July 2020 the German broadcasters ZDF, NDR and KiKa have announced that Germany will have its debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The contest is set to take place in Warsaw, Poland in November. Germany will choose its entry in an already existing show called "Dein Song" (Your Song). Applicants have to be between 9 and 14 years old and can apply until the 31st of July 2020 on kika.de.
It was already announced that the 17-year old german songwriter and composer Levent Geiger will write and compose the song for Warsaw. He was a finalist in last years edition of "Dein Song". He's also going to be involved in the casting and will accompany the chosen singer on the whole way until the big night on the 29th November in Poland. It has also been said that this year's theme "Move the World" will be incorporated into the entry's music video. It has yet to be announced if it will be incorporated into the theme of the song as well.
Last year, the contest was held in Gliwice, Poland and was won by Viki Gabor, who represented the home nation with the song "Superhero". You can check out her winning performance below:
