JESC 2020 | Junior Eurovision 2020 is ready to #movetheworld in Poland
Following on from Poland's second Junior Eurovision win in 2019 with "Superhero" by Viki Gabor, it was confirmed that Junior Eurovision 2020 would be returning to Poland for a second year running. This will be the first time in Junior Eurovision history that a country will host the contest two years in a row.
As of today, the EBU and the Polish Broadcaster TVP have confirmed that this years edition of Junior Eurovision is due to take place in Poland's capital, Warsaw, in November 2020. The theme for this years contest will be Move The World.
The creative concept behind the slogan is that as children, we mistakenly believe that all important things have been done by renowned people such as actors and actresses, athletes, astronauts and scientists, and as a result, we want to become them because in our eyes, they are the people who are moving the world. However, the reality is very different to this; every day, millions of people around the world go about their every day life and duties with capability and care, and together, they are the ones who are really moving the world. So this years slogan honours the collective power that we all hold together.
The new executive supervisor for Eurovision and Junior Eurovision, Martin Österdahl has said: “I couldn’t be more excited to be working with the incredible team at TVP on my first Junior Eurovision Song Contest. They have the skills, creativity and enthusiasm to produce a fantastic show. It’s never been more important to recognize the power of young people to “Move The World” and I’m looking forward to seeing all the talented singers perform later this year.”
The acting president of TVP, Maciej Łopiński, has said: "The events of recent months have shown us all the value of unity, kindness and cooperation. Big musical projects, such as the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, have great value, because they bring optimism and hope. The slogan of this year's Junior Eurovision, ‘Move the World’, underlines the necessity of taking positive actions for the common good. One such action is the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. I am glad that TVP, after the success of last year's edition, was chosen again as the host and organizer of this incredible musical event.”
Despite the ongoing situation with the Coronavirus, a total of nine countries have already confirmed their participation: France, Georgia, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain and Ukraine. The ongoing situation in the world will inevitably affect the planning and development of Junior Eurovision; however, the EBU and TVP, along with its other members, will work together to ensure the continuity of the contest, in a number of different scenarios.
