Iceland | Australia agrees Iceland will host Eurovision if they win

Since Australia joined the competition, the EBU made one condition clear: If Australia wins, the festival must be held in a European country. From that moment on, there were doubts as to which country would do it and many people dared to place their bets. Now, Australia has dispelled those doubts, announcing who would organize the contest the following year in the event that they win Eurovision in a future: Iceland.

According to the Icelandic newspaper Viðskiptablaðið, Iceland received a request from Australia in 2018, proposing that the Nordic country host Eurovision in the case of an Australian victory. It has been discussed with both municipal and state government officials that, in the event that this happens, Australia will be financially responsible for much of the event. However, Iceland should contribute around 2 million euros (ISK 317 million). The agreement between the national broadcasters of both countries, the SBS and the RUV, has the approval of the governments of both territories.

Since its debut in 2015, Australia has managed to place four of its five participations in the top 10. Its best result was in 2016, when Dami Im came 2nd place with the song "Sound of Silence". Only 23 points separated her from the Ukrainian singer Jamala, winner of Stockholm 2016. You can check out her song below:
