After Nicola Caligiore's resignation a few months ago, the national public broadcasting company of Italy, RAI, has announced Simona Martorelli will be the new Italian head of delegation for the Eurovision Song Contest.
Her name had been among rumours of who would replace Caligiore, but it has finally been confirmed during the press conference of "Eurovision Shine a Light" by Claudio Fasulo, entertainment manager of RAI.
Martorelli has a degree in Political Science and has been linked to RAI since 1984. She is also Director of International Relations and European Affairs of RAI since last year. Now she also holds the position of Italian head of delegation for Eurovision and has the responsibility to continue the success achieved by the previous one, who got Italy to return to Eurovision as the most successful country in the BIG 5. Of its nine participations between 2011 and 2019, seven of them ended on the TOP 10 of their editions.
