Eurovision 2020 | Eurovision Song Celebration to take place instead of the semi finals

April 29, 2020

Following on from the announcement of Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light that will be broadcast on May 16th in place of the Eurovision final, the EBU have now announced two new shows titled Eurovision Song Celebration 2020. The two shows will be aired on May 12th and May 14th (in place of the semi finals) at 21:00 CEST on Eurovision's official YouTube channel, and you could be a part of them!

On May 12th, the EBU will present the songs that would have taken part in the first semi final of Eurovision 2020, along with Germany, Italy and The Netherlands, who would have all been able to vote in the first semi final. The same process will be done for the all the songs in the second semi final on May 14, along with France, Spain and The United Kingdom.

All of the songs in each semi final will be played in the official running order, as decided by the show's producers, and although there will be no competitive element to either of these shows, the EBU have announced that there will be some surprises along the way.

How can I get involved?

At the end of each show, instead of the usual recap of all participating songs, there will be a Fan Recap instead. Eurovision fans from across the world will have the chance to record themselves dancing to the 20 second snippets of each song for a chance to be featured on the show. You can chose to dance to as many of the songs as you like! The deadline for submissions is Tuesday May 5th.

  • All videos must be recorded in 16:9 horizontal/landscape and must be 1920z1080 HD

  • All videos must be filmed on the latest device you have (if possible) and ideally with a tripod or on a steady base

  • All files must be submitted in either MP4 or MOV format (your device should do this automatically)

  • You should try to make sure that you are well lit in the video, either filming by a window or with a light near your device

  • All files must be sent in the highest resolution via WeTransfer to competition@eurovision.tv (or alternatively via Google Drive, Myairbridge, com or Dropbox)

  • When submitting your videos, you must include your name, country, age(s), email address and phone number

  • Anyone under the age of 18 must get parent/guardian permission before participating

The 20 second snippets of all 41 songs can be found in this video:

So despite the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 being cancelled, fans will still get to enjoy a whole weeks worth of Eurovision entertainment! Are you as excited as we are?
