Eurovision 2020 | The Mamas have won Melodifestivalen 2020

The grand final of the 60th edition of the Swedish Melodifestivalen came live from the Friends Arena in Stockholm, and saw The Mamas winning the show with their song "Move". The winner will have the honor of representing Sweden in Eurovision 2020 this May in Rotterdam.

After four semi finals and a second chance round, twelve songs fought for winning the Den Stora Sångfågeln (The Great Songbird trophy) and the honor of representing Sweden in Eurovision 2020. As usual Sweden gave us a spectacular show, hosted this year by Lina Hedlund, David Sundin and Linnea Henriksson.

In addition to the twelve finalist performances, the Melodifestivalen final has included several show acts. The tradition says that last year’s winner should be performed in a new version. This year, the SVT host Babben Larsson performed her own version, in Swedish, of the 2019 winner “Too Late For Love”.

But without any doubt, the most exciting thing in the Melodifestivalen final is always its final voting. First was the international jury vote (consisting of Israel, Austria, Armenia, Australia, Malta, Iceland, France and The Netherlands), which placed The Mamas and Dotter in the lead, with both of them tied with 65 points, and third place went to Felix Sandman with 53 points.

But, as always, the public has the last decision and the power to change everything. At the top of their ranking, the audience decided to give Hanna Ferm 69 points (third place), 71 points to Dotter (second place) and 72 points to their favorite, The Mamas. Therefore, The Mamas are the winners with 1 point ahead of Dotter.

The final result tonight was:

1st: The Mamas - "Move" → 137 points (J: 65 + A: 72)

2nd: Dotter - "Bulletproof" → 136 points (J: 65 + A:71)

3rd: Anna Bergendahl - "Kingdom Come" → 107 points (J: 46 + A: 61)

4th: Hanna Ferm - "Brave" → 94 points (J: 25 + A: 69)

5th: Anis Don Demina - "Vem är som oss" → 82 points (J: 40 + A: 42)

6th: Paul Rey - "Talking in my Sleep" → 68 points (J: 35 + A: 33)

7th: Felix Sandman - "Boys with Emotions" → 67 points (J: 53 + A: 14)

8th: Robin Bengtsson - "Take a Chance" → 63 points (J: 35 + A: 28)

9th: Victor Crone - "Troubled Waters" → 57 points (J: 19 + A: 38)

10th: Mariette - "Shout It Out" → 51 points (J: 42 + A: 9)

11th: Méndez feat. Alvaro Estrella - "Vamos amigos" → 40 points (J: 19 + A: 21)

12th: Mohombi - "Winners"→ 26 points (J: 20 + A: 6)

It was emotional moment when John Lundvik handed over the trophy to his friends. The Mamas won Melfest in 2019, as backing singers for John Lundvik and they are the first act to win Melodifestivalen two years in a row since Family Four won in 1971 and 1972.

Do you agree with tonight's result? Do you like the winner? Do you think The Mamas will get a good result in Eurovision 2020?
