Eurovision 2020 | Cyprus releases 'Running' by Sandro Nicolas

It has been almost a month since Cyprus unveiled the title of its song for Eurovision 2020, "Running" performed by Sandro Nicolas. Today, Cyprus has finally published the song that the young artist will sing in Rotterdam. An emotional and intimate song that represents a musical change in the recent trajectory of Cyprus in the contest.
Alfie Arcuri (Australia Decides participant, 2019) is the leader of the composition team tasked by CyBC to develop this year's entry. While "Running" continues Cyprus' reputation for sending uptempo dance-pop to Eurovision, its rhythm is influenced by EDM and house - far from that of the most recent songs by Eleni Foureira and Tamta.
“I think music is also about helping each other and I write music for people that feel sad, that feel alone, abandoned. I wrote a song that is about that very thing - that not everything in this life is always good or about happiness. Our song has a strong message. I write music that is real and that comes from a very true and genuine place”, Sandro explained in an interview with Wiwibloggs.
In addition to the change of genre, Cyprus changes its artistic director after frequently working with revered stage director and choreographer Sacha Jean-Baptiste in 2016, 2018 and 2019. Marvin Dietmann will be the artistic director of Sandro's performance in Rotterdam. He has participated in more than 180 television shows and has been behind Eurovision performances such as Cesár Sampson (jury vote winner in Eurovision 2018) and Conchita Wurst (winner of Eurovision 2014).
