Switzerland | It's Gjon's Tears for Switzerland with "Répondez-moi"

After much speculation, the Swiss national broadcaster has finally revealed that Gjon's Tears will be representing Switzerland in Rotterdam in May. He will be singing the song "Repondez-moi", marking the first time in 10 years where the country has sent a song to the contest in French.

Gjon's Tears, real name Gjon Muharremaj, is a 21 year old Swiss artist with Albanian-Kosovar heritage. He has previously took part in Albania's Got Talent when he was 12 years old, took part in Switzerland's Got Talent a year later and has recently took part in the French version of The Voice, making it to the semi final stage. He co-wrote the song alongside Xavier Michel, Alizé Oswald and Jeroen Swinnen.

Speaking about the song, Gjon said "Everyone asks themselves why exactly are we here, where do we come from and where are we going. These are key questions, particularly for people from a migrant background. My parents are from Albania and Kosovo. I grew up in Switzerland and it’s my home, these are questions that I think about a lot."

Last year, Switzerland was represented by Luca Hänni with the song "She Got Me". He gave Switzerland's highest result since 1993. You can watch our interview with Luca last year in the video below:
