Eurovision 2020 | Samira Efendi will sing for Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani broadcaster Ictimai have announced today that Samira Efendi will fly the flag for Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2020.
For the fourth year running, the Azeri broadcaster opted for an internal selection. Samira beat off four other acts to win the chance to represent her country in Rotterdam. Elvin Novruzov, Jabrail Rasulov, Laman Dadasheva and Riad Abdulov were unfortunatley eliminated in the race to Rotterdam as Samira came out on top.
This year marks Samira's fifth attempt at trying to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision. The song that she will sing is expected to be released in early March.
Samira was born in Baku in April 1991. She rose to fame after her participation in the singing competitions Yeni Ulduz in 2009, Böyük Səhnə in 2014 and The Voice of Azerbaijan, where she finished in third place. In 2017, she finished in third place at the international singing competition Silk Way Star, and in 2019, she represented Azerbaijan at the Nur-Sultan Festival.
