Norway | Magnus Bokn has qualified from Melodi Grand Prix semi final 4

Tonight, the fourth semi final of Melodi Grand Prix took place in the capital with Magnus Bokn qualifying as the representative for Western Norway. Magnus Now joins Kristin Husøy, Rein Alexander and fans favourite, Raylee in the final that will be in two weeks time on the 15th of February in Trondheim. Magnus beat Oda Loves You in their duel and went on to secure them the semi final win by beating Nordic Tenors in the Gold Duel.

Western Norway’s pre-qualifying song for the final is called “Attention” and will be performed by Ulrikke Brandstorp, a 24 year old year old pop artist who also participated in MGP 2017, where she reached the top 3 with her song “Places”. Her song form MGP 2020 has been well received by fans and is co-written by Norwegian ESC legend Kjetil Mørland who finished 8th in 2015 with Debrah Scarlett.

Kjetil talked about the song on his Facebook page describing his partnership with Brandstorp and co-writer Christian Ingebritsen as a “dream team”.

This year, 25 artists and songs will compete for Norway’s ticket to the Netherlands. That is the most number of competitors in the National Final’s long, illustrious history. A promising new format to follow on from the 2019 show that produced Eurovision televote winners KEiiNO. Each region of Norway is represented in a semi final and from each region also comes an automatic qualifier for the final.

We look forward to seeing Magnus and Ulrikke in the final and wish them both the best of luck!
