After winning Georgian Idol in 2019, Tornike Kipiani was selected to represent Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, and the song that he will sing in Rotterdam has been confirmed as “Take Me As I Am”. The song was internally selected by Georgian Public Broadcasting, and it will be a mix of rock, electronica and dubstep, sung entirely in the Georgian language.

Tornike will accompanied by three backing vocalists in Rotterdam:

  • Aleko Berdzenishvili (X Factor 2015 participant)

  • Mariam Shengelia (took part in Georgian Idol alongside Tornike)

  • Mariko Lezhava (Georgian national final 2017 with "Light It Up")

Who is Tornike Kipiani?

Tornike Kipiania is a Georgian singer and father of 3, who won the first season of X Factor Georgia in 2014. In 2017, he released the song "You Are My Sunshine" with Giorgi Bolotashvili, which competed in Georgia's national final for Eurovision 2017.

Georgia's Eurovision history:

Georgia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 12 times, debuting at the 2007 contest with one of their best results, 12th place in the final. Georgia has only missed one contest since their debut; they planned to participate in 2009, but decided to withdraw after the European Broadcasting Union demanded that the band re-write part of their song, which they believe made reference to the Russian prime minister, Vladimir Putin.

Georgia have reached the final on seven occasions, achieving two top ten placements, with Sofia Nizharadze (2010) and Eldrine (2011) both finishing ninth.
