Eurovision 2020 | Semi Final Allocation Draw Complete

The semi final allocation draw for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 has just concluded, and now we finally know which semi final each of the participating countries (excluding the Big 5 and the host country) will be taking part in, as well as which semi final the Big 5 and The Netherlands will be voting in.

The ceremony started off with the host city insignia exchange. In this, the mayor of last year's host city Tel Aviv, Zippi Brand, passed on the Eurovision Insignia to the mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb, and marked the official transitions of host cities for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Next, the Big 5 and The Netherlands were then drawn into which semi final they will be voting in. The results of the draw is as follows:

Then the other 35 participating countries were then randomly allocated a slot in either the 1st or 2nd Semi Final, in which they could be drawn in either the 1st or the 2nd half of that respective semi final. Last week the 35 countries were allocated to 5 different pots, all based on previous voting patterns. The results of this draw are as follows:

Now that we now know where each country will participate in, we now have to wait until all the songs have been officially released in order to find out the official running order. As per usual, the running order of the semi finals will be determined by the producers of the contest.

The first semi final will be on the Tuesday 12th May, the 2nd Semi Final will be on Thursday 14th May and the Final will be on Saturday 16th May at the Ahoy in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
