This year's edition of Festival da Canção will give us Portugal's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam, as was the case almost every year since their Eurovision debut, except 2003 and 2005.
There will be three live shows: the first semi-final is set to take place on the 22nd of February, the second semi-final on the 29th, and the final on the 7th of March. The semi-finals will take place at RTP's studios in Lisbon, while the final will take place at the Coliseu Comendador Rondão Almeida in Elvas. Each semi-final will feature eight songs, from which only four will advance to the final.
The voting system will consist of the sum of the votes from an in-house jury panel (50%) and from the public (50%), The in-house jury will be replaced by a regional jury in the final.
In 2019, in Tel Aviv, Portugal was represented by Conan Osíris with the song 'Telemóveis'. Unfortunately, it failed to qualify and finished in 15th place with 51 points. Our lovely Andy interviewed Conan and his stage partner Joao, back in 2019 during rehearsals. You can check it our here:
