Tornike Kipiani has been crowned the winner of Georgian Idol 2019, and will go on to represent Georgia at Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam!
Tornike is a 32 year father of three. He is a musician, and has previously won X Factor Georgia in 2014. This is not Tornike's first attempt at singing for his country at Eurovision; in 2017, he took part in Georgia's national final with his song "You Are My Sunshine", alongside Giorgi Bolotashvili.

A total of four acts battled it out in the final to be crowned the winner and represent their home country in Rotterdam. Tornike won with 33.82% of the vote, with Barbara Samkharadze in a close second with 31.18% of the votes. Tamar Kakalashvili and Mariam Gogiberidze rounded off the final four with 18.38% and 16.62% of the votes respectively. The results were decided by a mix of telephone voting and voting through the Facebook Messenger app.
This is the second year running that Georgia have chosen their singer for Eurovision through Georgian Idol. Unlike last year, where both the singer and the song were chosen, this year, only the singer has been chosen. Tonike's song will be chosen internally at a later date.
We had the chance to speak with this year's Georgian singer, Oto Nemsadze, in Tel Aviv. Check out Andy's interview below:
