It's been two days since the final of Junior Eurovision 2019 in Gliwice, Poland, and the viewing figures for the show are slowly being revealed! Overall, a lot of the participating countries recorded increased viewing figures for the show in comparison with previous years.
A total of 979,000 people tuned in to television channel France 2 to see Carla and her dancers take France to 5th place. This represents a 7.6% of the market share. These figures are a decrease from 2018 where 1.16 million people tuned in, giving them a market share of 8.2%.
RAI Gulp recorded an average of 42,000 viewers for Junior Eurovision 2019, which is their highest viewing figures since 2016 where they had 50,000 viewers. The contest this year saw an increase of 8,000 viewers compared to the 2018 contest in Belarus.
The final of Junior Eurovision 2019 was broadcast live on TVP1, TVP Polonia and TVP ABC, where a peak of 7.7 million people tuned in to see Poland win the contest for a second year running. This gave the broadcaster a 39.4% market share, which is a big increase from 2018 where the market share was 2.95%.
Portugal recorded their highest viewing figures for Junior Eurovision since they returned to the contest in 2017. A total of 350,000 people tuned in to RTP 1, which is an increase of 73,000 compared to 2018. The final was the 9th most watched show on RTP1 on Sunday, gaining a 9.5% market share.
A record 1.5 million people tuned in to television channel La 1 to watch their country in Junior Eurovision for the first time since 2006. The television channel recorded an 11.8% market share as Melani García brought Spain their fifth top 5 finish in Junior Eurovision, reaching 3rd place.
A total of 252,000 viewers watched Junior Eurovision 2019 on television channel NPO Zapp, which is an increase of 26,000 compared to 2018. These viewing figures gave them a market share of 9.1%.
