#ThrowbackThursday | Junior Eurovision winners of the past 5 years!


With the Junior Eurovision Song contest 2019 in Gliwice-Silesia fast approaching, in this #ThrowbackThursday we will look back on the last five Junior Eurovision winners, from 2014-2018!

2018: Roksana Węgiel - Anyone I want to be (Poland)

Before Roksana was internally selected to represent Poland in Junior Eurovision, she was a part of Edyta Górniak's team in the first season of the Voice Kids in Poland. She went on to win the competition.

During Junior Eurovision she performed her song 'Anyone I want to be' in the final spot of the running order and was voted the best with 215 points, giving Poland their first ever win in a Eurovision event.

After the contest, Roksana went on to release several new singles. Furthermore she won several awards, including the MTV Europe Music award for best Polish act.

2017: Polina Bogusevich - Wings (Russia)

Polina began her singing Career in 2012, when she took part in an international art competition in North Macedonia. Later, in 2014 Polina Participated in the Russian version of the Voice Kids, where she made it to the battles. In 2014 she also took part in the competition New Wave Junior, placing second.

3 years later, in 2017, Polina won the Russian national selection for Junior Eurovision and proceeded to represent Russia in Tbilisi. With 188 points, just 3 more than the runners-up Georgia, she won the Competition, giving Russia their second Junior Eurovision win.

Polina continues to sing, and since Junior Eurovision, she has released three new songs, 'Heavy On My Heart', 'Ya Ne odin' and 'Weekend'.

2016: Mariam Mamadashvili - Mzeo (Georgia)

Mariam Mamadashvili started her singing career when she was just four years old. Before Junior Eurovision, Mariam appeared in several Television broadcasts, and performed numerous public performances.

In Georgia, Mariam studied at the Bzikebi Studio. In 2015 she moved to the United states, where she studies at the Tomlinson Middle school, and the Broadway Method Acedemy.

In 2016, Mariam was internally selected to represent Georgia at Junior Eurovision in Valetta, where she was crowned the winner, with 239 points, the highest score in Junior Eurovision history!

2015: Destiny Chukunyere - Not My Soul (Malta)

Before Junior Eurovision, Destiny participated in various singing competitions, including San Remo Junior and Asteriks Music Festival, which she both won.

In 2015 she participated in the Maltese national selection for Junior Eurovision, which she won. In November 2015 she sang her song 'Not my soul' in Sofia, where she ended up winning the contest with 185 points.

After Junior Eurovision Destiny took part in Britain's Got talent, where she was eliminated in the semi-final. In 2019 Destiny made a comeback to Eurovision, as she was a backing singer for the Maltese entry 'Chameleon'. But, Destiny could be taking the Eurovision stage one more time, as she is now participating in the X-factor Malta.


2014: Vincenzo Caniello - Tu primo grande amore (Italy)

After Ti Lascio Una canzone, Vincenzo was internally selected as Italy's first ever Junior Eurovision participant in September 2014. After releasing his song 'Tu Primo Grande Amore' in October, Vincenzo performed it at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Malta. Where he was the only solo male in that years contest. He won the contest with a total of 159 points, just 12 more than the runner-up Krisia from Bulgaria. After Junior Eurovision, Vincenzo released numerous covers and singles.
