Eurovision 2020 | 178 songs submitted to Eesti Laul


On the official Eesti Laul social media accounts, its was revealed this morning that 178 songs had been submitted to the Estonian selection, used to choose the country's participant for the Eurovision Song Contest. This includes 102 songs in foreign languages and 76 songs in the Estonian language.

Head of Eesti Laul, musician Tomi Rahula hinted although the number of submissions is lower than previous years, the number of stories within the songs has risen.

Rahula also said:

"I wish the jury success in the evaluation," and added "the competition seems more powerful this year, because there are many good stories for me".

He went on to add he that the jury will have a hard time choosing due to the calibre of songs.

The two semi finals of Eesti Laul 2020 are set to be held once again in Tartu at the Tartu Ülikooli Spoordihoones on 13th and 15th February and the grand final will be held at the Saku Suurhallis in Tallinn on 29th February next year.

Back in October, the two hosts for the 202 edition of Eesti Laul were announced as comedian Tõnis Niinemets and returning host and musician, Karl-Erik Taukar.

Victor Crone won the 2019 edition of Eesti Laul with his song "Storm", and went on to represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, finishing in 20th place overall. Below, you can watch Eurovoxx's interview with Victor in Israel!
