MTV EMAs 2019 | Eurovision artists among nominees in tonight's show

MTV Europe Music Awards 2019 will be celebrated tonight in Seville. Everything is ready in the capital of Andalusia for the great show that will be watched in 180 countries by more than 500 million viewers. Superstars such as Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes and Rosalia are nominated, but we can also find several Eurovision stars in the list of nominees.

One of the nominees is the runner up of Eurovision 2019, Mahmood. The singer's success has been overwhelming after Eurovision and his nomination for Best Italian Artist confirms it. Recently, his song 'Soldi' became the most streamed Eurovision song on Spotify. In the list of nominees for Best Italian Artist we can also find Elodie. She participated in Sanremo 2017 with the song "Tutta Colpa Mia" and finished eighth in the first round of the grand final.

Another Eurovision star nominated is András Kállay-Saunders, who is nominated for Best Hungarian Artist. He represented Hungary in Eurovision 2014 and reached fifth place in the Grand Final. Another artist who aspires to this award is the Hungarian singer Viktor Király, known for his participation in the national final A Dal in the years 2012, 2014 and 2018.

Ukraine’s Vidbir 2019 winner Maruv is also another nominee. Although Maruv was the selected participant of Ukraine for Eurovision, she couldn't participate in the contest due to the decision of Ukraine after the controversy regarding her Russian ties. After this, Ukraine withdrew from Eurovision 2019. Coincidentally, Maruv is nominated on the MTV EMAs 2019 for Best Russian Artist.

Despite her youth, Junior Eurovision 2018 winner Roksana Węgiel has been nominated on MTV EMAs too. Just less 20 days until the grand final of Junior Eurovision 2019, in which she will host and give the trophy to a new winner, Roksana Węgiel may be able to win the prize for the Best Polish Artist in this ceremony.

In the list of nominees for Best Swedish Artist is a well-known name, Molly Sandén. She represented Sweden at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006, singing ‘Det finaste någon kan få’. She came third, which remains Sweden's best result in the junior contest. After this feat, and as an adult, she has tried to represent Sweden in Eurovision three times (2009, 2012 and 2016).

Finally, Fernando Daniel is nominated for Best Portuguese Artist. He tried to represent Portugal in Eurovision 2017 but he finally came fifth in the final of Festival da Canção, wich Salvador Sobral won. Despite not winning that competition, Fernando Daniel's career has been very successful in his country in recent years.

We hope luck accompanies all these artists at the MTV EMAs 2019 ceremony, as well as it did with other stars such as Lena, Marco Mengoni or Amir, who winning for their countries in recent years. The ceremony will streamed live from Conference and Exhibition Centre of Seville at 19:00 CET tonight.
