JESC 2019 | Joana Almeida With 'Vem Comigo' Will Represent Portugal At Junior Eurovision 20

Portugal are sharing the joy today, as the national broadcaster RTP have announced their choice for this year's Junior Eurovision to be held in Gliwice, Poland.

Within the last last few hours it has been announced that Joana Almeida will represent Portugal this year, with the song, "Vem Comiga" (Come With Me) which was composed by João Pedro Coimbra.

Joana is one of the contests youngest singers at ten year's old, and was specially invited to be this year's singer after she had won the popular singing contest for children, 'Gala Internacional dos Pequenos Cantores da Figueira da Foz'.

The composer João was also invited to write this year's entry. With recent events, the songs theme has major significance as it talks about the environment, and the dangers of what is happening to earth.

Check out Eurovoxx talking about this and Eurovision's link below:

According to the song's composer the song is a message of hope, and that the younger generation can make a difference in trying to prevent the dangers climate change, and protecting the planet.

This is not the first time a Junior Eurovision entrant has tried to convey this message. Last year, Wales was represented by Manw with the song, "Perta", which talked about mother nature, and the damages that was being caused by our actions. This surely will be a re-occurring theme in entries to come.

All the team at Eurovoxx would like to wish Joana Almeida the best of luck. What do you think of today's announcement from Portugal? Have they made the right choice? Please tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
