Sofia Ivanko will represent Ukraine at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Gliwice-Silesia. Sofia participated in the selection to become Ukraine's representative for the third time this year. She already participated in the Voice of Ukraine, where she was selected to be on Eurovision 2016 winner Jamala's team.
A 7-person jury that included Alyosha, who represented Ukraine at Eurovision 2010, chose Sofia out of 10 shortlisted candidates. Panel member Alyosha states: “We have decided that Sofia Ivanko would be the best representative of Ukraine at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year. Why? Because she very much stands out from other participants, she is very special, she has her specific, very expressively emotional character, she is mysterious and there is something about her, not characteristic of other people or other participants. The song needs a little more extra work, and then it will be very cool material, a cool song. I hope that Ukraine’s entry will be highly appreciated not only here, in this room, but also all over the world.”
Sofia will be singing her own song 'Koly Zdaietsia' (When it seems) on stage. A final version of the song will be released later.
