American fans of the contest were disappointed when Logo TV opted not to air the contest this year. Worry not though, as the show will be heading to the states for those loyal fans who wish to view the contest in all its glory.
Today the European Broadcasting Union announced that they had singed a deal with Netflix that will enable the show to be broadcast in America. The 2019 show will be available as early as Monday, whilst the 2020 contest will be able to be viewed straight after it has finished in mainland Europe.
The executive supervisor, Jon Ola Sand, said in a statement that,
"The European Broadcasting Union is thrilled that the world's biggest entertainment show will now be available on- demand for viewers in the USA".
"U.S. viewers will not get to enjoy all three of this year's fantastic shows for the first time as well as the entire contest in 2020. This is perfect timing with plans to launch a US version of the contest in 2021".
It was recently announced that the contest would be having a make over in America as Brain Academy, a Swedish production company had secured the rights to develop their own version of the world famous show.
The contest first gained notoriety there in 2016 when it was broadcast on Logo TV which attracted 52,000 viewers. A year later that figure would rise by 12,000 as it attracted an audience of 64,000. Whilst 2018, saw a further increase of thousands as 74,000 watched the show. Many were surprised when the company pulled the plug this year.
