Spain | Are RTVE Going Internal For Junior Eurovision 2019?

June saw the news that delighted many Junior Eurovision fans, when the national broadcaster for Spain, RTVE announced that the country would once again return to the competition after a twelve year absence. In that time, the competition has seen many other countries come and go, including France who successfully returned last year, placing second. Spain have also come back this year.

Now it would appear that the country are set to go internal in finding their next artist. According to our friends at Eurovision-Spain the country is already working hard in selecting the next artist, and really want to emulate the success that the country had in previous contests that saw all four participations make the top five, which also included a win.

It has been reported that RTVE's entertainment director Toñi Prieto had talked about Junior Eurovision, amongst other issues on the "Responde Program". In which he states that the channel is dedicated to the contest this year. He states that,

"We are working very hard on a solid, firm, and above all, quality candidacy, and we believe we have found it.... We are very happy". He acknowledged that Spain's return to the contest was sanctioned by the viewers who had complained that their country were not present. Of the intended artist, Mr Prieto also mentioned that, "Our representative has already been selected for the children's festival, and the candidacy is already underway".

Relive the moment when Spain won the contest back in 2004 below:

This year the contest will take place in Gliwice, Poland on Sunday 24th November 2019, after Roksana Węgiel won last year's contest with the song, "Anyone I Wanna Be". So far 19 countries have expressed their desires to be part of the show, in a bit to "Share The Joy". Unfortunately Israel will not be one of them, as they have withdrawn from the contest this year.

What do you think of Spain returning to the contest this year? Please tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
