JESC 2019 | Azerbaijan Withdraws from the Contest

After returning to the contest last year, Azerbaijan has once again decided to pull out of this year's contest in Gliwice. The broadcaster, Ictimai TV, has not released a statement about the reason for their withdrawal. This makes Azerbaijan the second country to decide to sit out of this year's contest alongside Israel.
Last year, Azerbaijan returned to the contest after being absent since 2013 with the song "I Wanna Be Like You", sung by the 13 year old Fidan Hüseynova and came 16th with 47 points.
So far 18 countries have shown interest in participating in this year's contest including Spain, who have decided to return to the contest after last participating in 2006. These countries are:
Albania
Armenia
Australia
Belarus
France
Georgia
Ireland
Italy
Malta
Netherlands
North Macedonia
Poland
Portugal
Russia
Serbia
Spain
Ukraine
Wales
This year's edition of the contest will take place on the 24th November 2019 and will be held in the Gliwice Arena in Gliwice, Poland.
