Eurovision 2020 | Melodifestivalen Submissions to Open on August 26th

Another year, another set of submissions! The Swedish broacaster, SVT, have just announced the dates on when they will be accepting song submissions for the show. Artists, songwriters and composers will have between August 26th and September 13th to submit their entries to SVT.
As in previous years, 28 artists will be chosen by a team of music experts as well as Melodifestivalen staff. One of these artists will be selected via Sverigesradio's contest P4 Nästa. Last year, the Lovers of Valdaro were chosen via this show.
All songs submitted must comply to the rules of the EBU for Eurovision 2020 in the case of the song getting through to Eurovision. SVT have stated that they will be trying to aim for at least 50% of the selected entries to be written by either solely female or a male/female team of composers/lyricists.
This year, John Lundvik won Melodivestivalen 2019 and the ticket to Tel Aviv with the song "Too Late for Love" after winning both the Jury and Public vote this year. He went on to place 5th place at Eurovision, garnering 334 points. You can watch his performance at Melodifestivalen below:
