Slovenia | Zala & Gašper Shine On Their Second Rehearsal

We are on day five of the rehearsals where fifteen countries will sing today, in a bit to update their performances, and fine tune how they will be portrayed on screen. The countries that will be rehearsing today will only have twenty minutes today, as opposed to the forty that they have been accustomed too. Next up this morning were Slovenia with Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl who sang, "Sebi".

Despite small changes to the Slovenian national final, EMA was once again used to select the Slovenian representative for Tel Aviv. Despite not being seen as an initial favourite, Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl took victory over fan favourite Raiven in the super final and they have since cemented themselves as a fan favourite within the fandom and on social media. They've been an active duet since 2018 and have released a number of original music tracks over the past year including an EP back in February.

SLOVENIA - FIRST REHEARSAL

Slovenia's staging is - as you can expect from their National Final performance - understated, simple but very visually appealing. Zala spends the full three minutes looking at Gasper similarly to the EMA performance however the bigger stage and the visuals really add to the atmosphere.

They perfectly capture the dreaminess of the song, with calming pink, blue and purple cosmic skies and stars in the background. Both of the duet are dressed fully in white with the instruments both on stage with them.

Camera-wise, lots of close up shots of the duo which despite her not looking at the camera at all adds to the intensity and pulls the viewer in. The intimacy that the whole performance delivers is probably most similar to the Portuguese 2017 winner - 'Amar pelos dois'. Simple staging is really effective here and this will certainly stand out.

SLOVENIA - SECOND REHEARSAL

Not much has changed between the first and second rehearsals. This morning's performance was just as slick, and intimate as we have all been accustomed too. The vocals haven't changed, and despite the prospect of singing to over 200 million people they are inviting you into their personal space, and being part of their lovely setting.

Despite not changing, the staging is just as wonderful now as it has been from the beginning. The camera angles are sharp, and dark backdrop with twinkling lights make you feel like you are in their personal space. Despite the press both have performed well, Some team Eurovoxx members still predict this to be a dark horse.

Over all a great performance, and the team behind Slovenia's song should be proud of how the artists are, and the song have come together. There is no reason why this should not qualify at this stage.

SLOVENIA- FIRST REHEARSAL V's SECOND REHEARSAL

It is very difficult to differentiate between the two. Both rehearsals have been really professional and slick. Also, the feeling of how intimate the couple are, comes across so well on stage. Both times have been equally as good. Job well done Slovenia.

Are you a fan of the song? Do you think it will qualify for the final? Please tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
