The penultimate country to rehearse today is North Macedonia - who is competing for the first time with their new name! Macedonia have the worst qualification record across all countries - having only qualified once since 2007 back in 2012 and nothing since. Representative Tamara Todevska is back after featuring within the 2008 trio singing 'Let Me Love You'. This year, Tamara will be performing 'Proud' alone on stage
Unfortunately for Tamara, if the rules of today's contest had been implemented in 2008, Macedonia would've qualified for the final as the song placed tenth in the semi final. Unfortunately at the time, only the Top 9 songs qualified, with the highest jury scoring song of the rest being advanced, and Sweden took their place in the final. She's also had success in Macedonian music show Skopje Fest.

NORTH MACEDONIA - FIRST REHEARSAL
Tamara is looking elegant in a long, flowing turquoise dress and like some of the others we've seen today, the main focus on this performance is definitely her voice. Similarly to Sergey she is joined on stage by six large mirrors however it seems that unlike Russia's performance the backdrop is used a lot more to show children, women and families which work with the theme. The mirrors just show her reflection from behind.
Her voice is the real talking point here. You can see from her face that she is channelling the passion and emotion that the song invokes and her voice is probably good enough to challenge for the strongest vocal of the year. Her backing singers layer and compliment well - especially on the bridge. All in all a great performance and after years of disappointing Macedonian stages, they've broken their bad luck streak. Can it qualify!?
North Macedonia's second rehearsal will take place on Saturday 11th May and they will be performing tenth in the second semi final on Thursday 16th May.
