Next up this afternoon is Romania! Last year, Romania failed to qualify for the first time in their participation history, narrowly missing out in 11th place with The Humans. This year a single human, Ester Peony, will be representing the country with her indie-ballad 'On a Sunday'.
Ester controversially won Romania's National Final back in February amid complaints that the jury had too much power - leading to Ester beating both of the fan favourites in a shocking result. However, that hasn't got her down as over the past months she has released the beautifully shot official music video and performed at Eurovision in Concert. Prior to this year, she launched her career in 2014 and following a few song releases, dropped her debut album last May.

ROMANIA - FIRST REHEARSAL
The stage for Romania is quite similar to the national final performance, with Ester dressed all in black and sat on a red chair in the centre of the stage. However as an addition to the performance, there are two male dancers which eventually make their way toward Ester.
The backdrop is mostly blue and black with industrial, building-like shapes appearing. When the dancers meet with Ester, the blue turns to pink, red and floral. Other graphics include bats & glass breaking but its a very busy backdrop. Overall it's a very dark and almost sinister performance which helps it to stand out and will definitely contrast well with Denmark following on closely after.
Camera shots were cleaned up a lot with each run-through and on the third run-through we also got pyrotechnics which definitely add to the performance. There's also a pyro curtain for the end of the song.
Romania's second rehearsal will take place on Friday 10th May and they will be performing sixth in the second semi final on Thursday 16th May.
