Albania | "Don't Forget Yourself, Don't Forget Your Origins". Eurovoxx Talks To

This weekend saw 28 countries travel to Amsterdam, Netherlands for the biggest Eurovision pre-party on the circuit. It was the first time for much of the fans, and press to see their favourites perform live. Before the show, much of the European, and Australia's media had a chance to interview the artists ahead of the show, and find out more in regards to their preparations for the big event in Tel Aviv. Eurovoxx were lucky enough to be there, and we were extremely excited to have had the opportunity to talk to this year's Albanian entrant Jonida Maliqi who will be singing "Ktheju Tokës" . Her biggest fan Andy, had the honour of speaking to her, and this is what she had to say. Please check out the interview out below.

You could clearly see the love that Andy, and Jonida have for each other. Since she won the national selection back in December 2018, the two have become friends, and the love for each other can be clearly seen. Jonida was absolutely beautiful, and blushed, and smiled when Andy mentioned this. The singer was fine, and was so thankful for the support that she has been receiving, especially from Andy who reacted to her song last year. "It's amazing" she said.

Of the hard work that has gone into the song, and preparing it for Eurovision, Jonida told us that she has worked hard this month in preparing the video, and revamping the song. "Now we work with the big team for the staging in Tel Aviv, because we start the idea of the song in the video, and after we finish in the stage". The gorgeous performer admitted that everything is ready, and she hopes to be successful.

Last month the official video was released. It has gone down well with fans. Andy asked about the support it has received and how much it has meant to her. "I grew up on stage when I was nine i start, for me to sing... it's my love... My public are everything... Thank you all so much for the support, Albanian people, international people. I am so happy because I cannot expect this". The singer should have expected this, as she, and the song is amazing. Jonida admits that it maybe difficult to understand because of the language. However if you feel the emotion of it, this shouldn't be a problem.

It is an emotional, personal song to the singer, and Albanian's, as it is a song about coming back home. Andy asked of the song, and how, and where it came out about. Jonida said, "I love the lyrics because it is global and personal... i feel it because it is the immigration issue. return to your land, identity, to your roots, to your blood, not physically but your spirit". She urged us, "don't forget yourself, your origins". Such wise words considering the current climate of immigration that are affecting some parts of the world.

The tables were then turned as Jonida taught Andy some of the song. Both actually sung it well, to some applause that could be heard in the background. It was lovely to see how natural a performer she came across when she went acapella, and sang more of her song. Andy has volunteered to join the Albanian star on stage. Well there would be points from the United Kingdom in that case.

Next week will Jonida come to London for the first time to present her song for her fans at the London Eurovision party. She already has a tour guide in Andy, and we are sure this will do well in May. All the team would like to wish this amazing singer a very big "paç fat".
