Norway | Volve Vokal Will Be Flying The Norwegian Flag At Eurovision Choir Of The Year 2019

The first edition of Eurovision Choir of the year took place in 2017. It was deemed such a sucess that it is back for the second time, and this year Norway will compete for the time, and be represented by Volve Vokal who won the right to represent their homeland yesterday in the countries first ever national final.

The national final took place in Bergen, Norway to decide who would be the countries first ever participant. There were four choirs that took place that ultimately saw Volve Vokal win the right to sing for their country in Gothenburg, Sweden. The host broadcaster NRK in a statement had worked together with Norges korforbund to help with the selection process. The acts that competed were:

Defrost Youth Choir Volve Vokal Kvindelige Studenters Sangforeining Kammerkoret Aurum

Just like other national finals, each choir had a 12 minute window to impress the jury with a medley of songs. It was a three jury members who ultimately decided on the winner. It wa their vote that counted alone, and no public vote. The jury consisted of Vivianne Sydnes, Kjetil Almenning, and Anine Kruse Skatrud.

This year has seen eleven countries confirm their participation to the contest. They are:

  • Belgium – RTBF

  • Denmark – DR

  • France – France Télévisions

  • Germany – WDR

  • Latvia – LTV

  • Norway – NRK

  • Scotland – BBC Alba

  • Slovenia – RTVSLO

  • Sweden – SVT

  • Switzerland – RTS

  • Wales – S4C
