Wales | Lloyd Macey To Join Wales' Mentoring Panel For Junior Eurovision 2019
Wales' preparations for the up and coming Junior Eurovision to be held in Poland this year, are in full swing. Once again, the Celtic nation are taking the competition very seriously, as it has been announced that there will be fresh face to the mentoring team this year. Lloyd Macey has been announced as one of the new members of the team that will help shortlist, and mentor the Welsh Junior hope fulls.
Lloyd Macey is no stranger to Wales or the United Kingdom, as he appeared on the fourteenth series of the 'X Factor UK in 2017' where he became the last Welsh person on the show before getting eliminated. The talented young singer comes from Porth, in the Rhondda valley, and is twenty five years old.
The announcement was made via the singer's official Twitter which can be viewed below. It is expected that Connie Fisher, and Tara Bethan will once again reprise their roles as mentors'
On March 28th 2019, Rondo Media put out a call for artists wishing to be the second Welsh Junior Eurovision representative at the contest. The application window for "Chwilio am Seren 2019" has opened.Wales' next Junior star is one step away from being present on the international stage, showcasing the best of Welsh talent.
The application deadline is from now until April 18th, where the submission period will close. The key dates are as follows:
April 18 – Application Deadline
April 24, 25, May 5 – Auditions Round
May 4 & 6 – Call back auditions
May 18 – Mentoring stage
June 29 – Semi-finals of Chwilio am Seren – Swansea Quadrant Shopping Centre
September 24 – Chwilio am Seren Final – Llandudno
The rules state that all applicants must be of Welsh nationality, or reside in Wales, and be aged between 9 and 14 (from the 24th November 2019). It is not compulsory to speak Welsh, however the winner will be required to sing the song in Welsh at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Applicant may also be solo, or consisting of a maximum of 6 people. Applicants can only compete for one country at the final. The full list of rules can be found here.
The broadcaster have said 12 acts will be shortlisted after the mentoring stage, where those chosen will take part in the semi-finals in Swansea. From this stage, they will be cut to six artists, who will then compete in the live final, that will once again take place in Llandudno.

Last year, Wales were represented by Manw with the song, "Perta". It scored 28 points with the online voting, culminating in a 20th place finish. Regardless of the result, the performance was professional, and showcased the Welsh language, and culture to the world, and beyond. Manw, and Wales certainly had many fans last year in Minsk.
Today's news shows that Wales are once again are taking the contest very serious, and passionate about displaying the freshest, and newest talent from this proud nation.
