Sandy Heribert will also be recognisable as she too appeared on the show as co-host. Whilst Stéphane Bern has been a regular commentator for France, having done this job since 2015, as well the Junior Eurovision 2018 where he co- commented with Madame Monsieur. The country have brought in their best hosts this year.

This year Bilal Hassani was chosen by the French public, and juries to be this year's Eurovision representative. During the French national final, Bilal stormed to victory with the public vote. The international juries placed him 5th with 50 points. However, thanks to a massive televote of 150 points by the public, it led to combined score of 200 points, meaning he was able to win the ticket to Tel Aviv.
