The national broadcaster for Israel, KAN have recently given further details in regards to where the official opening, and red carpet ceremony will take place for the up and coming Eurovision Song Contest in May.

All 41 songs are known, the venue for the contest is known, with the broadcaster and the host city Tel Aviv working hand in hand to get the preparations perfect for when the world will descend upon the city. KAN have announced that the red carpet, and opening ceremony will take place in Habima Square on Sunday 12th May at 19:00 (18:00 CET) local time.

Check out the Eurovoxx reaction to the Kobi announcement below:

Traditionally the red carpet event occurs on the Sunday before Eurovision week, which showcases all countries participating. It will be the first time that all of the acts will gather together. It also gives fans, and the press a chance to meet these stars, and ask them questions before the big week begins. Last year, it was the blue carpet event, whilst it is rumoured to be an orange one this time around, to coincide with the heritage logo, and sponsorship.

This year will see the Mayor of Tel Aviv Mr Ron Huldal, and the senior officials from KAN welcome all the artists, the EBU with a grand ceremony.

Where Is Habima Square?

Habima Square, also known as the Orchard Square is in the centre of Tel Aviv, and is used as a public space. The area often houses cultural events, and is home to the the Habima Theatre, the Culture Palace, and the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion for Contemporary Art. The construction of the area was completed in 1945, whilst renovations to the buildings, and the gardens were completed in September 2010. The area now seems the perfect venue for the ceremonies.

This year will once again see two semi finals, that will take place on the 14th, and 16th of May 2019. The ten qualifiers from each will compete in the grand final to be held on the 18th May 2019 in the Expo Tel Aviv.
