With just Malta, Armenia, and Israel remaining. Sweden were the last country to hold a national final, and chose this method to select their act. Tonight, the 59th edition of Melodifestivalen came live from the Friends Arena in Stockholm, and saw John Lundvik win the show with the song "Too Late For Love".
After four semi finals, and a second chance round it was John Lundvik that has won the right to represent Sweden, and follow on from Benjamin Ingrosso last year. As usual the show was a spectacular affair that was hosted by Sarah Dawn Finer, Kodjo Akolor, Marika Carlsson and Eric Saade. Melodifestivalen saw EBU spokesperson Linda Woodruff return in her typical style, and there was a magical interval performance by Dana International and Charlotte Perrelli which highlighted the anniversary of it being 20 years since Charlotte won in Israel. They sung their winning entries, as well as the infectious anthem, "Diva To Diva".
Tonight's finalists were:
1) Jon Henrik Fjällgren- "Norrsken (Goeksegh)"
2) Lisa Ajax- "Torn"
3) Mohombi- "Hello"
4) Lina Hedlund- "Victorious"
5) Bishara- "On My Own"
6) Anna Bergendahl- "Ashes to Ashes"

The international juries that consisted of Portugal, Austria, Australia, Cyprus, France, Finland, United Kingdom, and Israel all voted, and decided that John Lundvik with the song "Too Late For Love" was their favourite. Every single international jury awarded his song 12 points, culminating in 96 points. The public vote which tends to disagree with the juries had also decided that John Lundvik should win. No disagreement this year. With the votes combined it was clear that John would win. Not only is he representing Sweden, he is also the song writer for the United Kingdom entry.
