Azerbaijan | Chingiz Mustafayev will represent Azerbaijan with 'Truth'

The truth has been revealed! The 27 year old Chingiz Mustafayev will be representing Azerbaijan in Tel Aviv this May with the song 'Truth'. He was chosen after being one of the four artists shortlisted for representing the Caucasus nation. Mustafayev is quite familiar with the competition scene, as he won the Azerbaijani show Yeni Ulduz in 2007 as well as taking part in The Voice of Ukraine and New Wave.

There are some familiar faces behind the making of the song. Trey Campbell was one of the members of the band Equinox, who were the Bulgarian representatives in 2018, placing 14th. Another familiar person is Borislav Milanov, who has been the co-writer of many different songs for Eurovision in recent years, such as 'Beautiful Mess' 'Dance Alone' and 'Bones', to name a few.

Check out the music video below:

This will be the first time that Azerbaijan has sent a male soloist since 2015 after Elnur Huseynov returned to the contest, placing 12th in the Grand Final. Luck has not been on Azerbaijan's side in recent years, as they have failed to crack the top 10 since 2013. Last year, Azerbaijan failed to qualify for the final for the first time since their debut in 2008, after Aisel came 11th in the semi final with 'X My Heart'.

Can Chingiz change the country's fortunes and bring the country back into the final and the top 10?
