Finland | Darude will perform 'Look Away' at Eurovision 2019

After Saara Aalto got Finland back in to the final last year following the changes made to national selection show 'Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu', Finnish broadcaster Yle has stuck to this new format. On January 29th at a press conference it was confirmed that internationally renowned Finnish DJ and EDM, Trance & House producer Darude would be representing Finland at the 64th Eurovision Song Contest. Tonight at UMK Darude and supporting singer Sebastian Rejman performed all three songs that were potential Finnish entries, before a jury and televote decided that 'Look Away' would be the song the pair would take to Tel Aviv.

The three songs that Darude performed at Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu were:

1. "Release Me"

2. "Superman"

3. "Look Away"

Following all three performances, voting lines opened - with viewers able to vote via phone and via the app. Each app vote was equivalent to ten televotes, and all money collected from the vote was donated to the Finnish Red Nose Day organisation.

First to reveal their votes were the international jury - consisting of jurors from United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Israel, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Czech Republic - which saw 'Look Away' take an early lead with all of the international jurors 12 points. The televote was then added and 'Look Away' was crowned the winner with a total of 244 points. You can listen to the song here:

The show was hosted by Krista Siegrids who represented Finland at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with pop song 'Marry Me' and Mikko Silvennoinen. In 2018, Saara Aalto finally got to represent her nation on the big European stage when she took 'Monsters' to Lisbon. The song qualified Finland for the final for the first time in four years, however failed to make it to the top of the scoreboard placing a disappointing 25th position out of the 26 finalists. Darude will definitely be hoping to get Finland back-to-back final appearances!
