Georgia | Georgian Idol Finalists Songs for Eurovision Confirmed

Last year, we received confirmation from broadcaster 'Georgian Public Broadcaster (საქართველოს საზოგადოებრივი მაუწყებელი)' that for their 2019 participation they will be using a different method to choose their artist. Over the past few years, they have selected representatives internally, through national finals and now they are using popular TV talent show 'Georgian Idol' to choose their Eurovision act.

Over the past two months, we saw a lot of talent audition and then be whittled down to the live finalists at the end of January. Approaching six weeks later, we now have four finalists remaining in the competition and earlier today all four have chosen the songs that they will be performing on Saturday nights final in a bid to win the competition and go on to represent Georgia at the 64th Eurovision Song Contest.

The finalists and their chosen songs are:

  • Giorgi Nakashidze – "Sul tsin iare" (Go Ahead)

  • Giorgi Pruidze – "Me mjera" (I Believe)

  • Liza Kalandadze – "Sevdisperi zgva" (Sea in the Colour of Sadness)

  • Oto Nemsadze – "Sul tsin iare" (Go Ahead)

This does mean that two of the finalists have opted for the same song! We'll find out on Saturday how both take on the song and whether they make it their own.

Going in to the final, contestant Liza Kalandadze has won the televote for the past three live shows, whilst other finalist Oto Nemsadze came out on top during the first two live shows. It's all still to play for, and you can check out the final live on Saturday night at 19.00 CET (20.00 local time).
