Ukraine I Maruv wins 'Vidbir 2019' with 'Siren Song'

Ukraine has decided! Maruv will represent Ukraine at Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, after winning Vidbir 2019 with the song 'Siren Song'.

After two semi-finals and a total of 18 competing acts, tonight we saw 6 finalists in the race to win the ticket to represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Israel. The show was broadcast from Kyiv's Palace of Culture and was hosted by Sergey Prytula.
Bilal Hassani, this year's entrant from France performed, along with Eurovision 2016 winner and jury member Jamala.
This was the full lineup:
1. Freedom Jazz – Cupidon
2. Yuko – Galyna Guliala
3. Maruv – Siren song
4. Brunettes Shoot Blondes – Houston
5. Kazka – Apart
6. Anna Maria – My road
The winner was decided through a combination of televoting and the votes from an expert jury, consisting of:
- Jamala Eurovision winner 2016
- Andriy Danylko (a.k.a. Verka Serduchka, the runner-up in Eurovision 2007
- Yevhen Filatov,singer and music producer
The jury put Freedom Jazz as their winner, with Maruv in second place. However, it was the Ukrainian public who put Maruv in first place, after awarding her the maximum points from them, making her the overall winner. The final results of Vidbir are:
Maruv – Siren Song - 11 points
Freedom Jazz – Cupidon - 10 points
Kazka – Apart - 8 points
Brunettes Shoot Blondes – Houston - 5 points
Yuko – Galyna Guliala - 5 points
Anna Maria – My Road - 3 points
Last year, Ukraine was represented by Melovin with Under the Ladder, finishing 17th in the final of Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. Ukraine is set to compete in the second half of the first semi-final on 14 May.
