Estonia | International jury will be voting in the Eesti Laul final

The Estonian broadcaster ERR have announced that the jury that will be voting in the final of Eesti Laul 2019 will comprise entirely of international members. This is the first time in the history of Eesti Laul that there will be no Estonian jury members. The international jury, which will be voting in the first round of voting of the Eesti Laul final, will account for 50% of the overall score.

The Estonian broadcaster explained the reason for them introducing an international jury to Eesti Laul was due to the size of the Estonian music industry. As Estonia is a smaller nation (1.3 million inhabitants), they have a relatively small music industry which increases the chances of Estonian jury members having links to, or having worked with with some of the participants.

Aside from the introduction of the international jury, the voting will remain the same as in previous years. Once all the songs have been performed, the public and the jury will vote. The top three acts from the first round of voting will go onto the super final, where the public will then vote on who they want to see represent them at Eurovision 2019.
