Sweden | Malou Prytz + Hanna & LIAMOO qualify for Melodifestivalen Final

February 9, 2019

Tonight, Europe's most popular national final, Melodifestivalen continued it's search to find Sweden's next Eurovision star.  Just like last week the show continued in spectacular style as the second semi final came live from the Malmö Arena in Malmö.  ???? with the song ??? , and ??? with the song ???? both qualified and will join Wiktoria, and Mohombi that won last weeks heat.  The show also saw ??? with the song ???, and ??? with the song??? go forward to the second chance round (Andra Chansen).  Last week saw Anna Bergendahl, and Nano take that honour.

The second semi final saw seven artists compete.  They were:

  1. Andreas Johnson – “Army of Us”

  2. Malou Prytz – “I Do Me”

  3. Oscar Enestad – “I Love It”

  4. Jan Malmsjö – “Leva livet”

  5. Vlad Reiser – “Nakna i regnet”

  6. Hanna Ferm & LIAMOO – “Hold You”

  7. Margaret – “Tempo”

Tonight's show has seen one of the fan favourites "Margaret" take part, and it has also seen Melodifestivalen veteran "Andreas Johnson" return to the stage.

The show was broadcast live from Malmö Arena in Malmö and was hosted once again by Sarah Dawn Finer, Kodjo Akolor, Marika Carlsson and Eric Saade.  Last week the first semi final broke records, as over 7.1 million people had cast their votes, with even the lowest three performing artists getting huge votes.  Can another record be broken this evening?

The first two acts to be eliminated were Oscar Enestad and Jan Malmsjö placing sixth and seventh respectively, the first act to be announced going straight to the final was newcomer Malou Prytz with the song "I Do Me" her song was co wrote by two time entrant Isa, and staging and styling was done by three time Melodifestivalen finalist Ace Wilder and it clearly worked and her fun and catchy track connected to the voting public! The came the Andra Chansen announcements, first to be called was Vlad Reiser, and second was Andreas Johnson who is competing in his seventh Melodifestivalen! That left one space and we assured a shock either way, the final spot went to Hanna Ferm and LIAMOO, meaning Margaret, who made the final last year with "In My Cabana" is eliminated in fifth! A result we certainly did not see coming prior to tonight!

There is a long way to go for Sweden to chose their entry.  They still have two more semi finals, a second chance round, and a grand final.  The order of shows will be:

Semi-final 3 - 16 February 2019

Semi-final 4- 23 February 2019

Second chance round - 2 March 2019

Final-  9 March 2019

Tonight has seen Malou and Hana Ferm & LIAMOO qualify.  Are you happy with tonight's result?  Please tell us your thoughts, and opinions in the comments below.
