Malta | Michela Pace wins X Factor; will represent Malta at Eurovision

The competition started all the way back in October and over the past few months we've seen many amazing competitors and performance on the debut season of 'X Factor Malta'. Tonight the competition culminated with the four finalists - Michela Pace, Nicole Frendo, Owen Leuellen & Petra - singing for one final time in an attempt to win the competition with the winner receiving a recording contract and the honor of representing Malta at the 64th Eurovision Song Contest, set to be held in Tel Aviv, Israel later this year.

After an exciting show between the four finalists, it was confirmed that 22-year-old Michela Pace has won the inaugural season of 'X Factor Malta' and will be the first Maltese representative at Eurovision using this new format.

If you missed the show, check out the performances of the finalists here:

Michela Pace - "Total Eclipse of the Heart", "Perfect" (ft. Joseph Calleja), ["Maltese Classic]" and "Shallow"

Owen Leuellen - "Original Song", "Hey Now" (ft. Ira Losco), "[Maltese Classic]" and "Original Song"

Nicole Frendo - "Russian Roulette", "Just Give Me A Reason" (ft. Matthew James) and "[Maltese Classic]"

Petra - "You Don't Own Me" and "Be My Guest" (ft. Ray Mercieca)

The first song all four sang was their audition song, followed by a duet with a fellow singer. After the duets, Petra was announced as finishing in fourth position. After her elimination, the remaining three performed 'Maltese Classics'. After the third performance, Nicole Frendo was announced as finishing in third place. The top two then performed their winner songs and the winner was decided!

Michela impressed from her audition back in the very first episode, singing 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' by United Kingdom's 2013 Eurovision representative Bonnie Tyler. Ira Losco was in tears and we had goosebumps - with Michela being featured on our 'Top 10 Unmissable X Factor Malta Auditions' at the top spot of our countdown!

From then, she had continued to shine throughout the performance, taking on songs such as 'Praying', 'Shallow' and 'Lost On You' proving herself with her powerful vocals and unique tone. As a result it is no surprise that she continually came out on top in the Eurovoxx polls.

Malta's Eurovision 2019 song will be chosen at a later date and released ahead of the March deadline, and we can't wait to see what Michela will bring to the Eurovision stage! In the mean time, check out her incredible audition and the moment that we all fell in love with Michela here:
