News from Azerbaijan. It has been reported by local media that the national broadcaster for Azerbaijan ITV have launched a public call for songs.
The broadcaster have asked that both nationals of Azerbaijan, and foreign composers are invited to submit entries. However, those wishing to compete, and send entries forward, only have until the 7th February 2019 to do so.
The rules of the submission period state that composers send entries in an MP3 format, along with the lyrics, and information on themselves before the deadline. Other rules ask that the song be no longer than three minutes, be an original piece that has not been performed by other artists, and that these entries have not been published before 1st September 2018.
There will be no national final this year, with the broadcaster opting to chose the preferred entry themselves.
Last year, Azerbaijan chose Aisel with 'X My Heart'. Unfortunately it was the first time that the country had failed to qualify for the Eurovision grand final, since it first participated back in 2008. Could Azerbaijan avenge that result this year?
