Belarus | Eurovision Song to be decided on March 8th!

The Belorussian broadcaster TVR has today revealed that they will select their artist and song for Eurovision 2019 on Friday March 8th! The selection process to find the representative to fly the flag for Belarus in Tel Aviv has also been launched, and any interested artists have from today (January 22nd) until January 31st to submit their entry to the TVR website.

The lateness of this years national final might strike some dedicated Eurovision fans as odd, seeing as Belarus are usually rather early to hold their national final, the entry to represent them in 2015 for example was selected in December 2014. (Eat your heart out, Albania!) However the lateness can be easily explained, as Belarus only recently played host to the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest in the capital Minsk in November 2018.

The rules of the selection were also outlined today, and I think it's worth noting in particular that:

"Any Nationality may take part in the selection"

While this may not be a surprise to many seeing as the 2018 Belorussian representative was Alekseev from Ukraine, however I still find it worth pointing out as: Maybe you are not from Belarus have the right song and want to get on the Eurovision stage? Then Belarus is giving you the chance, as the Motto for this years Eurovision states, to 'Dare To Dream'.

Why not take a look back at the fantastic 2018 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and watch our very own Jess from here at Eurovoxx react to the song 'Time' From the Belarusian Artist for JESC 2018: Daniel Yastremski?
