Netherlands | Duncan Laurence Will Represent the Netherlands In Tel Aviv


News just in. The national broadcaster for the Netherlands AVROTROS, has, in the last few minutes just announced that they will be sending singer, songwriter Duncan Laurence to be their representative in Tel Aviv for this years Eurovision Song Contest.


As of yet the song information has not been given, with the broadcaster opting to release details of the song on the 7th March. Only yesterday, Cornald Maas had announced that the song and artist had been chosen. Today, the team behind this decision have unexpectedly released the name of the artist.


The general manager of AVROTROS of the song and artist has said, "We were blown from our chair by the song. It is so powerful that we have unanimously decided that Duncan is our man".


Of today's announcement, the 24 year old singer has said, "The past few years, the Netherlands have sent A-listed artists, those with big names. I'm not a big name, but that's a good thing. There are many young musical talents here. My participation proves that you could get the chance to perform on such a big stage to show what you're worth. I'm very proud that I'm going to represent the Netherlands and will give it my all".


Duncan is no stranger to music having graduated from the Rock Academy in in Tilburg last year. He over the years has developed as a singer, songwriter and producer. He has also gained experience of this in Stockholm and London. In 2014, Duncan auditioned for The Voice of Holland (under his full name Duncan de Moor) which was of course won by 2017 representatives OG3NE. This news comes hot off the press of today's other announcement that has seen Serhat announced as San Marino's representative. Thus, Duncan being the sixth known act for this years Eurovision.


So far, Albania, Armenia, Belgium Spain, San Marino and the Netherlands have all chosen their artists.


This year the Netherlands have opted to go for another male. However, will they be going down the 'country' route again. Further details will be posted soon.
