Sweden | SVT reveal Melodifestivalen 2019 stage

Swedish broadcaster SVT have today revealed the first images of what the Melodifestivalen 2019 stage will look like. The stage, which is an impressive 22 metres wide, (a Melodifestivalen record!) will comprise of both an LED screen part and a lighting based part to the stage.

Most stage designers will usually chose between having either LED screens or having just a lighting based stage (as Lisbon did in Eurovision 2018. However, stage designer Viktor Brattstörm has decided to go against the norm and use both!

So just how big is the stage? Well, it has been revealed that the stage will have a total of 500 moving lights in the Melodifestivalen 2019 final with an LED screen measuring 8 by 4 metres. In the middle of the stage, there will be a ring of lights more than 6 metres in diameter and weighing in at an impressive 1,800 kilograms, which will be the heaviest item to grace the Melodifestivalen stage!

We will get to see this magnificent stage in action for the first time on February 2nd 2019 when Gothenburg will host the first semi final of this years Melodifestivalen.
