Denmark | Johannes Nymark & Kristian Gintberg to host DMGP 2019!

It has been confirmed today by DR that the 2019 edition of the Annual National Selection for Denmark's Eurovision entry, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, will be hosted by Johannes Nymark and Kristian Gintberg. This is the third year in a row that Johannes will host the event, he also represented Denmark in 2016 as part of the Group Lighthouse X. Kristian on the other hand is a newcomer to the event as it's his first time to hold the position of host, however he did host the junior version of the event, MGP, in 2018.

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix will take place on the 23rd of February 2019 in the City of Herning and will be the 49th edition of the event. It has been used as the selection method for all Danish entries in Eurovision, not including the Danish 'Dark Ages' in Eurovision from 1967-1977, the country did not take part in these years and so the event was not held. In 1994, 1998 and 2003 there was also no edition of DMGP due to the Relegation system used from 1994-2003 which prevented many countries from participation, including Denmark on those 3 occasions.

For any superstitious readers out there, past editions of DMGP held in Herning have produced a 2nd place in 2001, 13th place in 2009, WINNER in 2013 and most recently a 20th place in 2017. But who knows what 2019 holds in store?

While the wait continues for the reveal of the Songs that will take part in DMGP 2019, why not take a look at Andy Interviewing 2018 Danish Representative (And DMGP Winner!) Rasmussen at the 'Blue Carpet' event of Eurovision 2018?
