Iceland | Söngvakeppnin Artists to be Revealed on January 26th

Amongst today's flurry of National Selection news we have confirmation from Icelandic broadcaster RÚV that the artists (and potentially the songs if the trend of previous years are continued) for the Icelandic national selection show 'Söngvakeppnin' will be revealed on January 26th 2019 at 19:45 local time.

In total, the broadcaster received 132 songs which they have spent a number of weeks cutting down to a top ten - who will make up the semifinalists for Söngvakeppnin 2019. In a photo posted to their official Facebook account, the team behind the show appear to be very happen with their options and choices!

In 2018, Ari Ólafsson took his ballad 'Our Choice' to the Lisbon stage in a bid to get Iceland back in the final. Unfortunately, despite his big personality and even bigger voice, Ari was unable to secure a qualification spot in semi final one, placing last (19th) with only 15 points. Iceland have failed to qualify for the final every year since 2014, despite having a number of fan favourites and expected qualifiers amongst the list of entries. Could 2019 be the year that Iceland's fortune changes?
