JESC 2019 | President of TVP reveals what he is looking for in a host city
The president of Poland's broadcaster TVP, Jacek Kurski, has releaved in an interview what he is looking for in the host city of The Eurovision Song Contest 2019.
In an interview with online news site Wirtualnemedia.pl, Jackek spoke about the selection process for the host city, saying that:
"The specification of conditions will be presented, taking into account primarily the quality of the hall, its availability - it must be available a month before the Eurovision to prepare it for this event, and the budget that the city will submit for financial installation with TVP to enter the co-organisation of this event. I do not hide that we are conducting television very economically; it will be an important criterion for us."
Jacek went on to talk about where he thinks would be the best place in Poland to host to contest, and gave his thoughts on the capital city Warsaw hosting:
"There are many cities that have good halls. Unfortunately, Warsaw is not a favourite; Torwar is a bit rough and unsatisfactory acoustically. Other Polish cities have much better halls than Warsaw. We will have something to ponder on. On the other hand, it happened only four times that a city that was not the capital organised a party, so it would also be exceptional."
Eurovision website ESCKAZ.com has reported via Krzysztof Miskowicz that Gdańsk, Szczecin, Warsaw and Wroclaw appear to be out of the race for hosting Junior Eurovision 2019 whilst Gliwice, Katowice, Kraków and Łódź are still in the running to host next years contest. But until we receive official confirmation from the Polish broadcaster and the EBU, we can only speculate where the contest will be held.
