Greek singer Marianna Toli, has passed away after a battle with Cancer. Marianna Toli represented Greece at Eurovision in 1977 alongside Bessy Argyraki, Pashalis Arvanitidis and Robert Williams, and together, they sang the song “Mathima solfege”. (Solfege lesson) They achieved Greece's best result in the contest to date, finishing in 5th place, which remained their best result until 2001 when Antique brought Greece to the top 3 for the first time. In 2014, all four singers re-united to perform their Eurovision hit at Greece's national final.

Marianna was a popular singer in Greece who had a long career not just in music, but also in theatre and film. Before she made her singing debut, Marianna studied History of Art at the University of Kentucky in the United States and Classical and Modern dance in London.

Marianna's career got off to a flying start when she performed in the comedy play "Lysistrata" in Epidaurus. Since then, she went onto perform in many other plays and musicals, including Annie, Chicago and Irma. She has also worked behind the scenes as well; from 2001 to 2003, she served as the Director in the children's department of the Greek National Theatre.
