Slovenia | Line Up for National Final EMA 2019 Revealed

In more National Final news, Slovenian broadcaster Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTVSLO) have revealed the line up for the 2019 national selection show 'EMA' (Evrovizijska Melodija) which has been used as the national selection process for Slovenia every year since 1996 except for their non-participation in 2000 and 2012/2013 - securing twelve appearances in the final for the nation. Eurofans will be happy to see a previous fan favourite amongst the line up!

For 2019, EMA is returning to one show - scrapping the semi finals - and the line up consists of 10 singers, groups and duets. The line up for the national final is:

  • Fed Horses - "Ti ne poznaš konjev"

  • INMATE - "Atma"

  • Kim - "Rhythm Back To Me"

  • Lumberjack - "Lepote dna"

  • Okustični - "Metulji plešejo"

  • Raiven - "Kaos"

  • Renata Mohorič - "Three Bridges"

  • René - "Ne poveš"

  • Ula Ložar - "Fridays"

  • Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl - "Oprosti"

The participants include Raiven, who previously competed in the national final both in 2016 and 2017. Infamously, Raiven placed second in 2016 and narrowly missed being sent to Stockholm for Eurovision 2016 by just over 100 public votes. She returned a year later where she placed third in the final. Also there is Ula Ložar who readers may recognise as Slovenia's 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest representative - their Junior Eurovision debut. The rest of the line up is definitely a strong show of diversity, with a range of genres and indie artists involved.

In EMA 2019, a jury panel will vote for their two favourites who will then proceed to a superfinal with the end result being fully determined by a public vote. The winner will get to represent Slovenia at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, Israel.

In 2018, Lea Sirk won EMA with her pop banger 'Hvala, ne' which returned Slovenia to the Eurovision finals after two years of non-qualification. Lea ultimately placed 22nd in the final with 64 points. We caught up with the beautiful Lea on the blue carpet back in Lisbon so if you missed our interview check it out here:
