Albania | Jonida Maliqi will fly Albanian flag at Eurovision 2019

December 22, 2018

Tonight was a special occasion for Eurofans as the first National Final of the Eurovision 2019 season took place! The final of Festivali i Këngës 57 gave us 14 great performances and at the end of the night it was confirmed that the winner of the music festival and therefore representing Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv is Jonida Maliqi.

Jonida Maliqi will be flying the Albanian flag in Tel Aviv next May with her song "Ktheju tokës" which following a jury and public vote was decided to be the best song of the three night competition. Check out their winning performance here:

In the past, Albanian songs have usually been revamped - and often translated to English - ahead of Eurovision so it is not yet known whether it will be the final version of the song. In 2018, Eugent Bushpepa won Festivali i Këngës 56 with his song 'Mall' which went on to be performed at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest - placing 11th in the final with 184 points.

With one song confirmed - its the start of an intense few months of Eurovision National Final season where we'll see the other 41 songs selected.

Do you think the right song won tonight? Let us know in the comments below and via our social media on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube for the latest Eurovision news, national selection updates and exclusive video content.
